LANDMARK LEGISLATION MAKES A DIFFERENCE
PROGRAMS
We are a cross-disability organization. However, a program may be developed to meet the requirements of a specific disability group because we have determined that one is needed.
GROWING THROUGH KNOWING
DISABILITY CIVIL RIGHTS- A-Z
MISSION
To provide educational opportunities and training for people with disabilities which will enable them to make informed choices, build self esteem and become self advocates leading to full participation in community life.
To provide educational opportunities for state and local government entities, private employers and businesses or other community organizations that will build bridges and make them more aware of the need to include the participation of people with disabilities on all levels.
Trainings include specific information on the important topics within the Americans with Disability Act (ADA) including
Employment
What are the responsibilities of employers regarding interviewing, pre-employment testing, medical exams, reasonable accommodation and all other privileges of employment?
What are the rights of people with disabilities when seeking employment. What to say or not say during the interview, the reasonable accommodation process and fulfilling the essential functions of the job.
Access to programs and services
What does it mean for people with disabilities to have "equal access" to the programs, activities and services of state and local government entities. What does "reasonable modification" mean?
Service animals
What does the ADA say about service animals and their access to employers, state and local government entities and private businesses? What about apartments and/or condos?
Emergency preparedness for people with disabilities
Since 9/11, we have become more aware of the need to be more prepared for emergencies. This is even more true for people with disabilities. How can employers better include employees with disabilities when developing evacuation plans? What can people with disabilities themselves do to better be prepared?
Disability civil rights
What are the rights of people with disabilities under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Fair Housing, the Rehabilitation Act, Telecommunications Act, Section 508? We'll briefly give an overview of a number of important laws and how they effect inclusion into the community.
Customers with disabilities
Feeling uncomfortable when a person with a disability comes into your establishment? Let's talk about it. The more you know, the easier it will be to interact with people with disabilities.
CCI has developed a number of tools to be used with it’s educational opportunities. These include hand-outs and Power Point Presentations. You will find our style to be interactive and interesting.
Trainings can be developed specifically to meet the needs of the requesting organization.. Contact us for more information
