CCI Is Involved

CCI will help educate people with blindness and low vision about news and events relevant to their every day lives. We'll provide information about fun things to do, accessible games, the latest technology, tips and tricks to use at home or while travelling and products which make life easier.

CCI is also the place for friends and family of those who are blind or visually impaired to come and learn practical tips to improve interaction, purchase products as gifts and find a facilitator to speak to your group about vision related issues and demonstrate a cross-section of items to use in the home.

CCI Can Help Us Get To Know Each Other

A major component to a successful working or personal relationship is being comfortable with the person with whom you are interacting. For many, there is some awkwardness when interacting with people who are blind or visually impaired. You're just not sure how to act and what to say. Should you ask if the person needs help if they seem to be lost? How do you shake hands with a person if they can't see you extend yours? Can you ask if the person has "read" any good books lately? Or if they've been to "see" a just released movie?

As disability awareness and sensitivity increases, many professionals, community leaders, faith groups and community organizations are looking for resources to help them improve their interactions with, and understanding of people who are blind or visually impaired. To help meet this need, CCI will facilitate the inclusion of people with blindness and low vision in community life by helping increase the ease with which everyone relates to each other.

INCLUSION BUILDS STRONG COMMUNITIES!
